Walkthrough:

Purchase a Large Lantern 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) Buy a Large Lantern from a Thaell Ew shopkeeper (as indicated by on the map)
Purchase two Torches 0/2 (Thuliasaur Island) Buy 2 Torches from the same vendor
Use the lantern to search the central forest at night 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) Equip the Lantern, this will auto update (as indicated by on the map) from 7pm to 5am in game time
Give the lost hatchling a Torch 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) Turn in a Torch to the lost hatchling that spawned
Escort the hatchling back home 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) Follow the hatchling
Defend the hatchling from the ambushing raptor 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) Defeat the ambushing raptor, if you don't do it within 6 minutes, the task fails
Give the lost hatchling another Torch 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) Turn in a Torch to the lost hatchling, if you don't do it within 2 minutes the task fails
Escort the hatchling back home 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) Bring the Hatchling to Advisor Thasil (as indicated by on the map), you have to do it within 10 minutes or task fails

I've tried this 4x. Every time he appears to despawn about 10 seconds after giving him the second torch.
